Two legends of comedy from the modern era...Jerry Seinfeld and David Letterman. They have a lot in common..both stars of television, both got their starts as stand-up comedians..and both are very avid car enthusiasts. Jerry owns quite a few cars and Letterman owns part of a racing team. The two recently got together for a new episode of Seinfeld's online show "Comedians in cars getting coffee" (pretty self-exploratory title). Unlike previous episodes, which featured vehicles from Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and even a beat up VW work truck, this episode had something very special...a modified Volvo 960 wagon, from Dave's personal collection. Selden Cooper is a man of Volvo legend. Sure, his 1987 Volvo 240 might have 2 million miles less than Irv Gordon's reord-setting 3 million mile 1966 Volvo P1800, but a million miles is nothing to sneeze at! So, of course its a big deal when Selden purchases a new car....and by new we mean 8 years old...with 175,000 miles. But 175,000 miles is barely broken in for a man whose daily driver has more than five and a half times that mileage. This past week, Selden has done something he hasn't done in 27 years, and that's take delivery of a new (pre-owned) Volvo. While that is VERY rare, we have a customer with an equally impressive Volvo 240, but with about 946,000 fewer miles on it.   What you are looking at is a 1979 Volvo 240 with only 53,965 miles. This car is as impressive in person as it looks in the photos. In fact, it looks like it just came out of the factory. If you average the numbers, this 240 has only been driven just over 1,587 miles every year. It is indeed a time capsule car.
