The Volvo 960, released in 1990 as a 1991 model year vehicle represented the next evolution of Volvo luxury sedans, following the 760. The 960 was distinguished with softer edges, and a more flowing design both on the outside, and the inside. Also distinct was a new 24 valve 6 cylinder engine, producing smooth power and minimal vibration. The 960 continued Volvo's tradition of phenomenal seats and amazing safety. In 1995 the 960 was re-styled and refined even further. In 1997, the 960 became the S90, to distinguish itself with Volvo's new naming nomenclature (S representing sedan, V representing Versatility and C representing coupe). Of course, today's Volvo S80 continues the tradition of Volvo luxury with an emphasis on Safety (its been an IIHS Top Safety Pick for several years running) and value...with Safe and Secure 5 year no-charge maintenance Coverage. It's a question we get every now and then. "How do I get one of those red plates?"...those red plates you see on various Volvos in Central Pennsylvania are actually Swedish Tourist plates. And the way to get them is to purchase your next new Volvo from Lehman Volvo through the Overseas Delivery program. In addition to being the BEST way to purchase your new Volvo, the Overseas Delivery program provides you with complimentary airfare for 2 to Sweden, a complimentary hotel stay and yes...that little red plate. Its another benefit to the program...Volvo provides you with complimentary European registration and Insuraunce for up to 14 days. And with that, your vehicle becomes a tourist vehicle. Once it reaches the US, Volvo makes sure that your red tag stays with the car, so you have a very cool and unique souvenier to remind you of the time you drove your Volvo in Sweden.
