Celebrities and Volvos


This month Volvo announced a partnership with one of the most prominent faces of the NBA, Jeremy Lin. Lin will be a spokesperson for the brand in a few different markets for a two-year period. He is a good fit, because like Volvo, Lin is understated, well-educated, and performs at the top without being overly flashy.
But he's not the first star to be tied up with the brand. A few years ago, Richard Branson was used to introduce the Volvo XC90 V8 in a space-inspired Super Bowl ad.

Former Secretary of State, Colin Powel was also a Volvo fanatic....though he never appeared in any Volvo commercials. He drove a classic Volvo PV series. Paul Newman was also a Volvo fan...for the stealth factor alone. He threw some extra performance at his Volvos, going as far as putting high-powered V8 engines in his Volvo 700 and 900 series wagons.
Then of course there are the movies...Volvos are the star cars in a a lot of films. Twilight, School of Rock (try to count all of the Volvos in that film!), Detriot Rock City, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Saint and a lot more.

Here is your Volvo Safety...

What you see above is the result of an accident between a tractor trailer, a Volvo XC60...and another tractor trailer. If you think the end result is devastating, just be aware...the driver and passenger of the Volvo XC60 walked away from this accident with only minor injuries. This accident happened in Brussels a couple of days ago, here is some of the report from their newspaper: A car containing a mother and daughter crashed into the back of a truck. The vehicle disappeared completely under the rear end of the heavy truck. To make matters worse, a heavy truck crashed into the Volvo XC60 from behind. The result was a lot of scrap. The emergency services had to rescue the two women from the car, who were trapped for more than one hour. The fire brigade had to cut off the roof of the vehicle before being able to set them free.
