Volvo Unveils 2019 XC40
Volvo Cars announced the new 2019 Volvo XC40, a premium
compact SUV that will launch in the United States in the first quarter of 2018
as the first example of the Swedish automaker’s new 40-series model line.
The Volvo XC40 also marks the first iteration of the new
Compact Modular Architecture, which will underpin all subsequent 40-series
models, including fully electrified vehicles.
“The XC40 is our first entry in the small SUV segment,
broadening the appeal of the Volvo brand and moving it in a new direction,”
said HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, president and chief executive. “It represents a fresh,
creative and distinctive new member of the Volvo line-up.”
The new 2019 Volvo XC40 is designed to appeal to younger
audiences while presenting a modern expression of Scandinavian design
highlighted by a new version of the brand’s signature grille, a tall ride
height, large wheels, a strong profile and the distinctive Thor’s hammer
daytime running lights. The exterior will be offered with a wide range of body
colors and color-contrast roofs to provide up to 17 unique combinations.
Connectivity and clever functionality are core to the XC40’s
interior, which features large door pockets and a customizable cargo area to
help meet the storage needs of daily life as well as Wireless Qi mobile phone
charging and Bluetooth connectivity with a standard 9-inch Sensus Connect
touchscreen to help reduce cable clutter. During the day, an available
panoramic sunroof can provide natural light, while at night LED illumination
can be configured to match mood or temperature.
Also standard are Intellisafe technologies and four years of
Volvo On Call, the former making the XC40 one of the best-equipped small
premium SUVs on the market when it comes to safety. It includes various driver
assistance features such as Cross Traffic alert with brake support, a
360-degree Camera, Run-off Road protection and Pilot Assist.
Launching with the 2019 Volvo XC40 is a new model of car
access called Care by Volvo, an all-inclusive, negotiating-free option that
will be offered alongside traditional purchase and lease choices to facilitate
getting your hands on a new Volvo. It will include maintenance, insurance and
the opportunity to upgrade to a new car as early as 12 months, with more
details to come at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
