What to Look Forward to in the New Year

2013 was a busy year for Volvo, with new technology, design changes and investment in future vehicles. However, 2014 will be even bigger for more than a few reasons. Here is a rundown of some of the things you will want to check out in the New Year...



1. The Return of the wagon. Yes, Volvo is bringing the wagon back to the US. Not just any wagon, but the new 2015 Volvo V60. It will come in a variety of powertrains and packages. We cannot say enough good things about this vehicle. Starting at $35,300 (plus destination), the V60 is truly in a class of its own when it comes to safety, versatility, driving dynamics and fuel efficiency.



2. The all-new Volvo Drive-E engine range. A major investment, the new Volvo Drive-E engines will be available in most of the Volvo line-up including the S60, V60, S80, XC60 and XC70. With start-stop technology, amazing fuel economy AND performance (240 horsepower in T5 trim, 300+ horsepower in T6 trim), the Drive-E engine range will impress in all areas.

3. 8 Speed Automatic Transmissions. Yes, you read that right...a new 8 speed transmission. Connected to Volvos with the Drive-E engine, the new automatic transmission will provide smooth shifting and help deliver even greater fuel efficiency. In addition, performance will also be increased with faster shifting.



4. The Fastest Volvos Ever Produced. Volvos are safe, yes. But Volvos are also exciting. That will be the emphasis of the all-new Volvo S60 Polestar and Volvo V60 Polestar. Featuring a long list of performance items (Brembo brakes, unique suspension, aerodynamic styling, special wheels, etc.) the Polestar Volvos will produce 350 horsepower and be able to reach 60 miles an hour in under 5 seconds.

5. Turbo charger + Super Charger. The all-new Volvo T6 engine not only provides over 300 horsepower, but it also features turbo power with a super charger. This unique design will ensure power in the lower end (with the turbo charger) and power in the higher end (with the super charger), giving you a seamless band of power with none of the drawbacks.

Here is your Volvo Safety...

What you see above is the result of an accident between a tractor trailer, a Volvo XC60...and another tractor trailer. If you think the end result is devastating, just be aware...the driver and passenger of the Volvo XC60 walked away from this accident with only minor injuries. This accident happened in Brussels a couple of days ago, here is some of the report from their newspaper: A car containing a mother and daughter crashed into the back of a truck. The vehicle disappeared completely under the rear end of the heavy truck. To make matters worse, a heavy truck crashed into the Volvo XC60 from behind. The result was a lot of scrap. The emergency services had to rescue the two women from the car, who were trapped for more than one hour. The fire brigade had to cut off the roof of the vehicle before being able to set them free.
