A Call to Action...

From the press release: Volvo Cars of North America, LLC, (VCNA) is placing full-page ads in the Sept. 30 issues of USA Today and The Washington Post that call for distracted driving legislation. Publicly taking a position on the need for legislation is a first for Volvo, and the company chose to do so simultaneous to the Department of Transportation’s “Distracted Driving Summit” in Washington, D.C. The summit is a two-day meeting between senior transportation officials, elected officials, safety advocates, law enforcement representatives and academics to discuss how to combat distracted driving. The ads discuss how Volvo, which is not a Summit participant, has long been focused on eliminating collisions in which distracted driving is a factor. Volvo has done this, in part, by building cars that stop themselves and warn fatigued drivers when they waiver from their lane. “With the proliferation of cell phone use and text messaging while behind the wheel, distracted driving is on the ris

The Volvo C30 Makes a Good Race Car

The STCC (Swedish Touring Car Championship) is a competitive race series over in the “motherland”. In dramatic fashion, Volvo just WON the 2009 season this past weekend. It came down to the final race, with Volvo taking the Manufactures Title and top driver, with Tommy Rusted finishing with 94 points. "Wow what a dramatic and happy day! I am incredibly happy and proud to win the strongest racing championship in Scandinavia and for the biggest and finest brand here - Volvo" said a happy Tommy Rustad. Volvo has been fighting toe-to-toe with BMW at each race, but in the end the Swedes got it done! Well done! For a street-legal version of the Volvo C30, visit Lehman Volvo. And make sure to do it by the 30th to take advantage of SAFE AND SOUND 5 year/60,000 mile coverage. Why 3 XCs?

Image
At a recent car show we sponsored, we got a question from someone who was wondering why there are several XC models. Good question, here's the answer... The entry level XC model is the all-new Volvo XC60, the only crossover that will stop-itself, with the standard "CitySafety" driver-aid. This model is smaller then the traditional SUV, so it is more economical (27 miles per gallon with the XC60 3.2 FWD), but yet still offers plenty of utility with class-leading Cargo space. The XC70 (or Cross Country) has been around for over 10 years, and is the traditional Volvo...the space of a wagon, the drive-ability of a sedan, and the luxury of a flagship model. The XC70 is standard with all-wheel-drive and a choice of an inline-six cylinder engine or turbocharged T6 engine. The XC90 is our SUV, which is standard with 7 passenger seating (not available on the XC60 or XC70). The XC90 is a popular model due to its all-weather ability in both 6 cylinder and V8 versions. With a lot of

Why do YOU buy a new car?

Image
The classic debate in buying a car is always USED versus NEW. With a pre -owned vehicle you save the money over buying new and with Volvo Certified Pre -Owned you get a comprehensive warranty, but of course you don't have the "new car smell" or the most-up-to-date design changes. Volvo has made the debate even harder with SAFE AND SOUND warranty coverage on all 2009 and 2010 Volvos in stock. You get 5 years coverage for virtually everything (not including tires or inspection). So, if you are tired of putting money into your old car, the idea of a new Volvo should sound VERY appealing. Electricity at the Frankfurt Auto Show

Image
An all-electric Volvo C30 was unvield this week at the Frankfurt auto show! To the press release.... "It looks like a regular Volvo C30 and it features the very same safety, comfort and space as the standard car. The difference is that it is powered solely by electricity, entirely without exhaust emissions, and has a range of up to 150 kilometres. Volvo Cars' ambitious electrification strategy has quickly produced concrete results. In addition to the market introduction of a plug-in hybrid in 2012, work is currently under way on evaluating the viability of an entirely electric-powered car known as a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle). In 2009, a small number of prototype versions of the C30 BEV have been built and tested internally by Volvo. In addition to focusing on performance and safety, much of the focus is on integration of the electric propulsion system with the rest of the car. "The Volvo C30 is the first model we will try out with electric power. This car's excel
