New “Average” Versus Volvo Certified Pre-Owned

New “Average” Versus Volvo Certified Pre-Owned
By: Dan Lehr, Pre-Owned Sales Manager

The average new car price is now over $33,500. No matter how you look at it, that is not a small amount of money. There are a lot of average new vehicles out there that provide reliable transportation from Point A-to-Point B. Not all of them are as comfortable, safe or enjoyable as a Volvo, which begs the question…why spend over $30,000 on an average new vehicle when you could get into a Certified Pre-Owned Volvo for the same amount or even less?

Let’s see how the average new car stacks up against a Certified Pre-Owned Volvo. Using a new 2018 Honda Accord, we will see how the average new car compares to a Certified Pre-Owned Volvo S60. To be fair, we will equip our examples as closely as possible.

With the level of luxury content you receive on the Volvo S60, we will have to upgrade to a Honda Accord EXL with Navigation (Starting at $29,970 before destination). Most of the S60s in inventory will have all-wheel-drive as well, however the Honda Accord is not available with all-wheel-drive, so we will use a Volvo S60 T5 Front Wheel Drive with the award-winning Drive-E 2.0 Turbo engine. You can also get a 2.0 liter turbo engine on the Honda Accord, but it will cost you an additional $2,000. Parking sensors are also an additional $514. With destination charge, the Honda Accord will set you back $33,117 before taxes.

You could spend less and receive more with a Certified Pre-Owned Volvo S60 Inscription like this 1-Owner 2016 example which just arrived at Lehman Volvo Cars of Mechanicsburg. Equipped with Navigation, Blind Spot Information System, Keyless Drive, Integrated Rear Sunshades, Leather, Camera, City Safety Autobrake and more, this 30,000 mile example vehicle is priced at just $28,500.

A comparable 2016 Volvo S60 Inscription will not only save you on the purchase price, it will also give you the peace of mind of the Volvo Certified Pre-Owned warranty and of course the safety and comfort you can only find in a Volvo. While the Honda comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile limited warranty and a powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles, the Volvo Certified Pre-Owned warranty comes with a much more comprehensive 7 year/100,000 mile warranty (calculated from the original in-service date) that also includes 24 hour roadside assistance.

So when you are spending average new car money on your next vehicle, remember how far that money can go on a safe, luxurious and comfortable Certified Pre-Owned Volvo from Lehman Volvo Cars of Mechanicsburg. See our current inventory here: https://www.lehmanvolvocars.com/used-inventory/index.htm
