A Decade and a Half of Elegance and Open Air Fun

2013 marks a bittersweet era for fans of the Volvo C70. This is the last year for the hard-top convertible and the end of a journey that began in 1998. It was that year that the sleek and sexy first generation Volvo C70 hit the road. Much like its predecessor, the P1800, the C70 had the unique job of changing perceptions of what a Volvo could be.

The C70 was unveiled first as an elegant coupe, and later as on open-air convertible. The convertible proved to be the more popular variant, as it carried on several years after the coupe ended production.

In 2006, the second generation C70 landed and it was an instant hit. Combining the elegant looks of a coupe and the function of a convertible, it was the first four seat 3 piece hardtop convertible on the market. With room for 4 and an impressive list of safety features (one of the only convertibles ever to be named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS), it also carried on the practical side of Volvo...but in a fun to drive convertible. It was the best of both worlds.

It has been a successful run, but all good things must come to an end. Perhaps there will be another Volvo convertible in the future, but only time will tell. Until then, claim your future collectible Volvo C70 during the Summer Sales event at Lehman Volvo.
