Snow, Snow, Snow...and more SNOW. Thank goodness for Volvo AWD

What you see above is some professional driving in, believe it or not, REAR-Wheel-drive Volvos. Yes, that's all that Volvo made for most of it's existence. In fact, it wasn't until 1992 that drivers in the United States were introduced to front-wheel-drive Volvos (other markets in the world got front wheel drive in the 400 series Volvos introduced in the 1980s).

Thankfully the move to all-wheel-drive was not as long a shift as the rear to front drive era. It was only five years after the debut of the FWD Volvo 850 that all-wheel-drive Volvos became available. In the US, the Cross Country coupled all-season performance with classic Volvo utility.

Since then the entire Volvo line-up has made been made available in all-wheel-drive (from the Sporty S60 sedan to the top of the line XC90 SUV).

So you don't have to be a professional rally racer to make sure your Volvo goes from point A to point B in the snow. Stay safe out there.
