New Service: Care by Volvo

The launch of the all-new 2019 Volvo XC40 premium SUV is being accompanied by the launch of something else entirely: Care by Volvo, a new subscription service that will redefine the way people approach the process of buying vehicles.

Care by Volvo will feature a national, flat-rate monthly fee that includes all of the traditional extras of buying a car, such as insurance, maintenance and down payments. It works very much like the subscription program used by many mobile phones.

The process is free from negotiation and starts with the online order. An interested buyer can simply order online, head over to the nearest Volvo dealership and drive away after signing their contract their new Volvo without having to worry about all the usual hassle.

“This is simple and clear, everything but fuel is basically included in one flat rate,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President & CEO of Volvo Cars USA, “This is the next step toward making life less complicated for customers.”

The service is similar to leasing, but with more costs already included and a shorter contract period—likely 12 to 18 months. When that period is up, you can simply walk away, swap to a new Volvo or keep the car by paying the remaining amount owed on it.

The clear benefit is that everything is included. You don’t have to worry about depreciation, or wear and tear, or insurance, and you’ll even have the benefit of a number of additional Volvo services. “With Care by Volvo, we introduce a new car access for the modern age,” said HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, President and CEO. “In a time where consumers are used to transparent flat fees for all sort of services, the traditional process of buying and owning a car can be perceived rather complicated. Care by Volvo changes all of that.”

Full details and pricing for Care by Volvo in the US will be announced at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show where the new XC40 will make its US debut.
